Around Paris

I had planned to be leaving for Paris from Arizona the day after I posted this but my Mom took a turn for the worse so I’ve extended my trip for one more week. Anyway, more Paris photos from my archives.

This caught my eye in a bistro. I still remember that day.
A stylish man.
I like the long aprons that waiters often wear in Paris.
Pretty Autumn light by the Medici Fountain in the Luxembourg Garden
A big sail boat for the pond in the Luxembourg Garden owned by an adult.

Into the Garden

A few photos from the first day of the opening of the Tuleries Gardens.

I’ve never noticed this architecture before. I assume it’s original to either Greece or Rome.
Chairs waiting for visitors.
The fountains were running.
We walked through the petite Arch de Triumph.
Louvre Museum which is opening soon.
I’ve always been intrigued with this building from the 1600’s. It is part of a school now. I’m not happy with the puddles and streams of urine in front however. I wondered who picked out that color for the door and shutters. You don’t see hot pink/maroon very often in Paris.

Summer in the Park

It’s fun to walk around the Luxembourg Gardens when the sun comes out and see all of the action going on.

The beautiful Medici fountain.
Sail boats for rent.
Lots of sailing going on. Look at that crowd around the pond.
I assume this is a working sail boat but I didn’t see it in the water.
A replica of the Statue of Liberty.
There are tennis courts and ponies along with chess boards.

Garden

Last Sunday instead of doing our usual walk on Promenade Plantee which is near to us I talked Maurice into taking the metro and doing our walk in the Luxembourg Gardens. It was a beautiful Sunday morning and the park was packed with joggers and it made a nice change.

img_1903 It’s locked overnight and is the home of the French Senate as you can see by this official looking building at the front of the park. There are guards everywhere too.

img_1905 This is a section of the Medici Fountain that I always stop at and take at least one photo.

img_1907 The flowers are always beautiful except in the dead of winter if it gets really cold.

img_1908 These famous green chairs are everywhere and used a lot.

img_1919 The guy who rents sailboats for the pond wasn’t there but a lot of people, mostly men, had brought their own.
