The End

I took a train back to Palermo to spend the night before heading back to Paris. My hotel turned out to be in a very busy part of Palermo that I didn’t see before full of interesting architecture. It was almost sunset so I quickly put my luggage in my room and went to the roof to have a look at the scenery before going out on the street.

First a look at the train station in Taormina which I thought was charming.
View from the roof of my hotel.
A huge fountain below. A nice lady in the hotel told me it was called the fountain of shame because it had so many nude statues.
I saw this unusual church on the nearby street. The streets were teeming with people this being a Saturday night.
An impressive corner. There was another just like it across the street.
Heading back to Paris. I was surprised to see snow. The night at the hotel did not go well. At 1 am I woke up hot and discovered that the electricity was off. It turned out to still be off at 6 am when I had to leave for the airport. I had to use the flashlight app on my iphone to find my clothes to get dressed, do minimal makeup, brush my teeth and pack. Then I discovered that the elevators did’t work either so went down four flights of stairs with my suitcase happy that I had packed lightly. I made it easily to the airport, got to Zurich to change planes thinking I only had three hours to wait, but it turned out to be five hours. Thank goodness, I like to read. I made it back to sleep at 9pm. It was a very long day.
