Madrid

Madrid was our last stop on our tour. At first I was a bit disappointed. It is a huge and overwhelming city but then we started going to really interesting locations. I’ve been told that Madrid is the happening place right now.

Beautiful architecture everywhere.
We went to a place for tapas and mainly ham tasting. On the way we had to go through a huge demonstration which you can see through the window where we were. It was peaceful. It had to do with health care. Many emergency room doctors were on strike.
Mushroom tapas again at a place that serves nothing else. I loved them.
We went to the Prado Museum but photos weren’t allowed, darn it.
Also went to a modern art museum with Picasso and this painting by Dali. Very different from his melting clocks.
A cathedral finished in the 60’s, right across from the palace.
These were all over Madrid, based on a Velazquez painting and all decorated differently. They are called Las Meninas.
This funny guy is a local celebrity. Spiderman had too many tapas!
