October 2nd

Today was overcast but bright. I took a few photos around Palais Royal and the Louvre. It is such a beautiful area and I never have enough photos of the area.

The flowers in the garden are still looking nice.

Ornate gate in Palais Royal.

One of my favorite fountains there.

The sun was trying to break through the clouds at the Louvre.

Nice colors at cafe in Place Dauphine.

Another gorgeous day that makes you glad to be alive and well on planet Earth. The sun was shining, it was in the low 70's, and we were outside walking in Bois de Vincinnes and Parc Floral. The dahlia's were all in bloom.

Looks rather like a tropical forest.

I really love the color of this one.

The view along the path we take to get to Parc Floral.

I am writing this part of the journal from Provence. It has been unusually rainy this last week sometimes with light rain falling all day and sometimes very heavy rains that leave a little lake in front of our garage. The last heavy rain really devastated our neighbor's yard, filling their pool with mud and mud was inches thick all over their porch. They worked hard to block water in some places and have it run off in others. So far it appears to have worked but we will have to see how it all holds up with even heavier rains often seen in this area. We have had big holes dug in our yard in which trees will be planted sometime during the next two months. I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks. At some point we will also build a little cabana at the end of the pool both for shade, grilling on the barbque and blocking the view some from the highway up above us. Hopefully, the trees that will be planted will do the same thing.

In an effort to improve my French I took two weeks of classes in a village near us called Manosque. It is a beautiful drive there through winding hills and vineyards. I especially love one valley and when the sun is shining it looks especially beautiful.

One view of the road I take with the sun just coming out.

View from our house the morning after it rained all night.
