Journal back to journal
2003 index January 4th It started raining early this morning and the temperature was in the 40s but by 11 am the rain turned to snow and it was soon snowing very heavily and the temperature slowly dropped to 32 degrees. I got out in it to try and get some photos but a blizzard like wind was blowing and I only got a few. I wish I could have gotten to some neat areas in Paris to get some photos. I am going to try in the morning and see what I can find but I'm afraid it will mostly all be gone.
View of our courtyard with snow on shed.
View from other side of building. Looks like about 3 inches or so.
Car covered with snow.

January 5th I made it outside this morning and while a lot of the snow was gone or messed up I got a few good photos. It was cold, 34 or so degrees but the sun was out and there was no wind so it was great to walk around.
Fountain in the Palais Royal
Another fountain in Palais Royal. Most of the water was frozen
Notre Dame with ice on the gargoyles.
January 19th Maurice, some friends and I went to Chantilly today, and a nearby town called Senlis. It started off raining and cold. Chantilly is a beautiful chateau, surrounded by a huge moat that is covered with little rowboats in the summer. It was empty today.

Hunting dogs out front. This is a big hunting area-always has been.
Window in a small chapel there. I love the blue. Next we went to Senlis-a great little ancient place to walk around, full of old churches and a cathedral covered in green moss, cobbled streets, narrow alleys. Right before we left the sun came out. It was so great to see it shine on the buildings.
Cathedral in the sun.
Arch over street that was once part of a Roman wall.
January 27th I have been busy racing around Paris taking photos for a job-photos for a web site needing a photo from each arrondissement. Every time it turned sunny I was out there. Here are some that I got.
